Here’s what sets his breast reduction technique apart from other surgeons in Westchester:

Your Breast Reduction Journey, From Consultation to Results

01

Consultation

Dr. Newman reviews your symptoms, your anatomy, and what you want out of surgery. Our team begins the insurance verification process, and you'll leave with a clear surgical plan.

02

Pre-Authorization

We prepare and submit your pre-authorization package: clinical documentation, photos, your Schnur calculation, and your symptom history. We follow up with your insurer until we have an answer, and most determinations come back within two weeks.

03

Pre-Operative Visit

About a week before surgery, you'll come in to review the details of your procedure and ask any remaining questions. You'll sign consent forms, and we'll send your prescriptions to your pharmacy electronically.

04

Surgery

Dr. Newman performs breast reduction surgery under general anesthesia. The procedure usually takes three to four hours, and most patients go home the same day. He operates at the Dobbs Ferry Pavilion of St. John's Riverside Hospital, where he has served as Chief of Plastic Surgery for 26 years.

05

Recovery and Results

Most patients take a week off work and are back to strenuous exercise around three weeks. Many feel relief from back and shoulder pain almost immediately, and final results settle in over three to six months.

Everything You Need to Know Before Booking

Most commercial insurance plans will cover breast reduction if the procedure is considered medically necessary. This depends on your documented symptoms and how much tissue needs to be removed relative to your body size. In many cases, we can verify your benefits before you even come in.

Most pre-authorizations come back within two weeks, though some take up to six. Our team submits everything and follows up with your insurer until we have an answer.

Dr. Newman uses techniques that preserve the nerve supply to the nipple and areola specifically to protect sensation. Temporary numbness or sensitivity during healing is normal, and most patients find their sensation returns as they recover.

Most patients take a week or less off work and are cleared for strenuous exercise at about three weeks. Many notice relief from neck, back, and shoulder pain right away.

Many women are able to breastfeed after a reduction, and Dr. Newman’s technique keeps the nipple attached to the underlying tissue, which helps preserve that function. If you’re hoping to nurse in the future, we can discuss your options during your consultation.

You still have options. We offer flexible financing plans to make your procedure more affordable, which we can discuss during your consultation.
